I’ve always felt that Am Fam is higher priced but it’s because they are there for me when I need them and so such a great job when a claim is filed.nnI learned recently that was not true.nnI filed a claim after my car was hit while parked on a street overnight. It wasn’t just my car. My boyfriends car also got hit. It was a three car accident with only one car in motion. This allowed me to see the incompetence of Am Fam because I got to see how well my boyfriends insurance responded and how poorly Am Famnresponded.nnI was told I had to pay my deductible and wait for reimbursement. They did not call the drivers insurance even though I called and gave them his information. So then I followed up with the police report that I paid for out of pocket. Because Am Fam did not get the report on their own.nnI watched my boyfriends insurance pay his deductible because “it’s clear this isn’t your fault”, get the police report and call the insurance of the driver themselves. It was astonishing to see how he was treated by his insurance versus how I was being treated by mine.nnWhen I called to discuss this with my local office, Jennifer with Dave Stouts agency was VERY rude to me and told me “your up to your neck in a claim with us” when I asked about being required to pay the deductible for an accident that clearly wasn’t my fault. She was rude and blamed me. She told me that I could have chosen to leave my vehicle (that was not driveable) until they worked on the claim with the other insurance. Which, they were not working on (by not calling the drivers insurance or getting the police report). I would have been without a vehicle or a rental for quite a while...paying for my current insurance plan on a car that could not be driven.nnSuffice it to say, after 25 years I left Am Fam that day. I won’t allow anyone to treat me like that again:
