My daughter has recently gotten very interested in horses. We went to The Riding Stable for the first time on my daughter’s 3rd birthday. She rode a pony named Buddy. My daughter was very excited, and had a good experience, even though Buddy was very jumpy. The owner contributed his jumpiness due to my husband walking beside him. Thankfully, she used the stirrups and saddle horn to hold on when he spooked.nnWe had planned her birthday party there as well the following Saturday, so we made sure that Buddy was not going to be used at the party. We were told that we would be using a different pony and horse. The owner was not present during the party, but the employees that were giving pony rides were great, and so were Lucy and Sonny, the pony and horse used.nnSince the birthday party went so well, we decided to continue riding lessons. For our first lesson, the owner was not present, and the employee working had Buddy ready to ride. About ten minutes into the ride, Buddy bucked my three year old off, and she landed on her head. I was glad that I had insisted on getting a helmet put on her, since she was almost placed on Buddy without one. The stirrups also weren't adjusted for her height, which could have helped my daughter hold on if she had been able to fit her feet in them. Buddy was bucking pretty hard though, so I'm not sure any three year could have possibly held on.nnAfter this happened, the owner reached out to me via text message and asked if my daughter was okay because she heard that an umbrella was opened and Buddy spooked. However, the umbrella had been open before she even mounted, and that is not why the pony spooked. Her saying this made us feel like we were being accused of causing a problem that resulted in our toddler being bucked off, which was not the case at all. I’m not sure why he spooked, but it was nothing we had done. I understand that horses are animals and they get scared, but this pony isn’t one that should be used for very small children. After we told the owner that it was not our fault, she then agreed that Buddy had been acting different recently, so I’m not sure why he was the pony chosen for a very young child to ride. I was also concerned that the stable hadn’t had me sign a release of responsibility, which seems irresponsible on their part.nnDue to all of this, we discontinued our riding lessons at The Riding Stable. I would caution any parent with small children who is planning on riding there, and I hope sharing our experience will prevent other children from being hurt.

We signed our 7 year old son up for the summer camp a couple weeks ago. It was a great experience! He learned so much and had a blast at the same time. We HIGHLY recommend this wonderful place. Worth every penny. Can't wait to do it again next summer!
