This was an impromptu weekend getaway. We stumbled on this place and we couldn’t have been more happy that we decided to stay here. Ron and Cindy were great host and the breakfast was great. The property was very clean and very beautiful. You feel welcomed and feel all the love and charm they have put into this place. We stayed in the Lodge Suite and it was amazing. All the decorations and little touches make the experience better. They bathroom was huge. I can’t recommend this place enough.

When planning an impromptu Labor Day weekend near the Southern Michigan “wine trail,” I had one criterion, which was that I wanted to find a great Bed and Breakfast for my partner and I for our first B&B experience. Being only two weeks before the holiday, I feared that my choices would be nil. Indeed, all options within a few miles of Lake Michigan were completely booked. However, I am thankful that I had no options there, as it forced me to look more inland. It was in Niles, Michigan where I came across a Bed and Breakfast with availability for the Labor Day weekend: Cindy and Ron’s “The Harvest Bed and Breakfast.” We could not have been more impressed with our luck in ending up at this idyllic, comfortable, and welcoming destination.nFirst, the property is immaculate, with freshly manicured lawn, beautiful landscaping and mature trees, plus a peaceful swing out back to help melt away all of the stress that you may have brought with you. The building is tastefully decorated and unique, with each bedroom offering a different feel for differing personalities. We chose the lodge suite, where we were fascinated to learn that it was decorated with items that were collected from the proprietors’ travels to the American northwest and Canada. The windows opened on every side allowing for a relaxing breeze to flow throughout, the front porch was perfect for sitting out with a glass of wine and admiring the property, and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious. The location of the property worked very well for us, as in 20-30 minutes we could be at all of the wineries on our list, and in less than ten minutes in the opposite direction, we had great dinner options in South Bend.nNext, Cindy and Ron are simply great people and gracious hosts. They gave us the feeling that we were staying at a family member’s home, which made it difficult to not be able to help with cleaning up after meals or helping make breakfast ud83dude0a. All the guests were invited to have wine and hors d’oeuvres on Saturday night on their back porch. Again, this gave us the feeling of hanging out with family, and it was nice to get to know our hosts in this way. Their welcoming personalities will have us coming soon and sincerely recommending The Harvest to our families and friends.nFinally, we were nothing short of impressed with the food. Starting with accommodating my gluten allergy. Cindy made and set out special gluten free scones and muffins using her own recipes, which honestly were among the best baked goods I can recall ever having, gluten free or not. Two breakfast options were available each day, and the menu did not repeat on day two, which was nice. The quality of the farm-fresh ingredients was impressive, with some of the most flavorful fresh fruit that we have had in recent memory. The gluten-free options continued with breakfast, which included gluten free blueberry pancakes and gluten free toast. Literally everything included at breakfast was delicious. Sausage, hash brown skillet, pancakes, waffles, eggs, yogurt parfait, and more. Cindy and Ron make for a great team in the kitchen as well as being great hosts. Coffee was available all day, which was great for us coffee lovers.nIn conclusion, we could not have been more impressed with The Harvest for our first Bed and Breakfast experience. We are confident that we will be hard-pressed to find a B&B that will be as satisfying all-around as this choice has been. From the beautiful property, to the great hosts, to the incredible food, this was honestly well above our expectations. And to top it all off, they offer a generous discount to honor any veterans staying with them, which is admirable and appreciated. Many thanks to Cindy and Ron – we will certainly be seeing you again soon.
