Starbucks has grown and become a benchmark for the "Best in Class" coffee bar experience. However, in the quest to deliver a uniform experience at locations across the country, Starbucks has allowed many small, local cafes to design an alternative experience and a superior product unfettered by the need to deliver a recognizable brand experience to the anonymous "consumer". Individuality and the unexpected in flavor, service and atmosphere are much more valuable than predictability and uniformity. Starbucks has good coffee but it is time for a new focus on the core coffee experience!
