Hands down the best wine shop in Portland. If you know wine, you should know this place; their selection is outstanding. If you don't know wine, you can learn a ton from John, Murray, Don, and Jeff. They will find you wine that fits your budget, whether it's a $10 bottle or $50 one, and they will likely open your eyes to new regions and winemakers. You can walk right in, ask for help, and not feel intimidated. I cannot recommend this place enough. Local, affordable, friendly, knowledgable. Simply the best!
I was so disappointed by my experience with this wine store. I had a special occasion meal coming up, and they picked out 3 bottles of wine for $200 to go with the menu. All three bottles were really lackluster, but the man helping me was so pleasant the store gets 2 stars instead of 1.
A great local resource. John and his team are always attentive and patient (especially during those busy wine tastings!). There's no snobbery here, just well curated wines at fair prices. Sure, you might save a couple of bucks going to Costco, but instead your're supporting your neighbors. Especially in times like these, that seems like a good trade.
I love this place! I used to stop in every once in a while before the pandemic, but now I just call and ask them to put together a selection of wines for curbside pickup. I give them a few examples of what I like and what I'd like the average bottle price to be and they curate a case for me. They have great recommendations and they're not snooty.
