Indiana Dunes National Park Parking West Beach Parking

Great beach for swimming, shipping rocks and short hikes.

We paid $6 to park for the day in the West Beach parking lot. There is very good, close access to the trails from this lot. It is a bit of a walk to the actual beach which wasn't bad for us but seemed a little long for people we saw that were carrying large coolers and other picnic or cookout items.

Plenty of room every time we have come and always clean. The lot is set up well: no matter where you park, you do not end up walking a whole lot farther than if you are in the first side- closer to the west beach. Even though the beach was crowded we found a nice spot.

This is a beautiful sand dune area with a great beach on Lake Michigan, smaller lakes to explore inland, numerous nature trails and a dune succession trail, and spectacular stairs. If you'd like to venture away from the Chicago beaches, but don't want to travel the distance of Michigan, I highly suggest you try West Beach.

Easy access to parking space, is paid parking tho.nTad far walk from the beach took us a slight 10 min with the kids other then that perfect!
