Mark Mercer: Allstate Insurance

This is THE WORST AGENCY EVER OPERATED using the Allstate name. I had a FIRE at my home in January a week after my wife’s death. I contacted Allstate immediately only to be told I had no authority, didn’t live in the residence, was not a client & I was divorced. My wife had a drinking problem that lead to her demise. I called MARK MERCERS office the year before to discuss the policy and was yelled at & hung up on several times. Because I asked my wife during one of her bad days to call the office and change the payment plan while I was at work. During that conversation I was REMOVED from the policy & the coverage was altered in a horrible way. Because without proof the agency was under the assumption that we were divorced and I was no longer a resident in my own home. It took the Allstate investigation almost 6months with my PROOF OF RESIDENCY,MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE, and my WIFES DEATH CERTIFICATE just for starters. Allstate as a company has its hands full due to MARK MERCER’S agency. I called other offices that carry MARK MERCER’S name & was treated the same as the Portage office. My home is still the same as it was since day one of this NIGHTMARE. We were BUNDLED with auto also & my car was damaged Allstate covered the body work. But when the adjuster contacted MARK MERCER’S office he was informed that I wasn’t going to get a rental car even though it was on the policy. When I contacted the office I was informed that my policies were not going to be renewed by MARK MERCER’S office. Allstate in a whole as a company is fine I’m sure that they didn’t appreciate having to jump through all of these hoops that MARK MERCER’S office put them through also. Today is July 17th & this chaos has yet to be completely resolved. I’ve just recently been allowed to walk inside the fire damages. It has been treated like a CRIME SCENE due to MARK MERCERS office. The changes that were altered that day is going to so far cost me $50,000. The person at MARK MERCER’S didn’t even follow the industry standards. The home replacement value was at $200,000 and industry standard is to cover other structures for a minimum of 10% most policies are even higher. MARK MERCER’S office did my policy for 5% which is unheard of. I called several companies getting a quote due to MARK MERCER’S office informing me that my policies were not going to be renewed. Not one of the competitors offered 5% that’s how I found out about the industry standards. My new Insurance company not only has a lot more coverage it’s even LESS EXPENSIVE. I’ve tried to contact MARK MERCER himself only to be given the run around @ several locations. Before I decided to do a review of my experience. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR & DON’T USE MARK MERCER AS YOUR AGENT!!! If Allstate is your preferred provider there are many other agents out there. DO NOT USE MARK MERCER you’ll want to thank me for this advice if God Forbids you have to ever use your policy!!!!

All around great!! Nothing but an amazing experience thus far.

Not responsive to email, I have had Allstate for 50 years, but this agent seems disconnected.

Everything is OK until you have to file a claim! If you file a claim be prepared to receive the worst treatment imaginable. I've been with allstate for many years. I couldnt believe the way I was treated after being involved in a near death accident. After almost dying in an accident no one in claims would return my phone calls. They only want to send emails. After sending emails, letters and calls to Mark Mercer I thought he would respond, but he didn't. Its clear that he dont care about his long term customers needs. I will say they'll call and harass you when trying to sell you life insurance. The claims dept is slow to pay and they will deny some of your major expenses. Needless to say, I cant wait switch my homeowners policy. I want a more professional company that cares about more than just money. I would like to rate Mark Mercer and company maybe a half star. Definitely not one full star!!!!

Highly commendable response & service with my recent claims with Allstate. I have no regrets having Allstate as my insurance carrier for 49 years with the company. I am extremely satisfied and very happy to how fast & settled my claims. Thank you so much Allstate and more power to the company. Thank you for everything! I am indeed in good hands with Allstate.
