Where do I begin... my husband and I were planning a trip to visit Indiana Dunes National Park with our 6 yr old and 2 month old sons. A simple google map search of area hotels and I stumbled upon Riley’s Railhouse Bed and Breakfast. My 6 yr loves everything there is about trains. I immediately pulled up their website to see if children were welcomed (Most B&B’s usual have a no children policy) to my surprise they welcomed children. We immediately booked one night here not knowing what to expect. Let’s just say that this one night stay was the highlight of our mini road trip and we happened to visit two national parks and one state park... Riley’s still outdid them all. Anne Marie and Richard Riley were hospitable and made you feel like family. Anne Marie was accommodating and immediately made you feel like you were right at home. Richard shared stories of his renovations and knowledge of trains and they both engaged with our son allowing him to explore all the wonderful antiques displayed in the great room. Our family stayed in car #1, our oldest son loved sleeping in the loft. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean and had great water pressure. Approx 80 trains a day pass right by Riley’s day and night. We all slept like babies. Including our 2 month old. However if you are a light sleeper you will hear the trains and feel the vibrations which honestly is all part of the experience. Ear plugs are also provided in the room just in case you choose to wear them, we did not need to. In the morning our conversations from around the fire pit the night before are continued as you’re being served a delicious hot breakfast. Riley’s has made a lasting impression for our family and we only hope to return one day.

Wonderful stay! We staying in the queen ann caboose with our 3 month old. Trains go by but they are not too loud (earplugs provided). Alexa and smart tv. Amazing bathtub!! Beautifully decorated, so clean and comfortable! You won’t regret staying here!

My family loves going to the dunes each year. This was our first time staying in Chesterton or at Riley's railhouse, but certainly not the last. This is our favorite bed and breakfast and the cutest town only 10 mins from the beach and walking distance to shops and great restaurants. The owners at Riley's were so hospitable and kind, we didn't have reservations so we took the last car/room available one night and let us stay at their airbnb the second night. Both were lovely, clean and well stocked. The breakfast was amazing especially the French toast made with homemade cinnamon bread and they were so accommodating with my two vegan teenage daughters. They had a communal fire every night for the guests which we never made it to but plan to next time. The trains are loud but I'm the only one they bothered and you got used to it.nThis place is a hidden gem, we'll be back!
