Needed a couple replacement parts for my Big Green Egg and didn't know they were under warranty. Derek at the store informed me and put the parts on order for me to pick up for free. Super helpful and good service.

My wife and I had been looking to install a fireplace insert at our house and had visited a couple of shops prior to checking out Homestead. The first place we went seemed only interested in selling us the units they had to get rid of before the new EPA regulations set in this coming spring and they are no longer able to sell them, as opposed to helping us find what was in our best interest. The guy who came out and gave us a quote seemed put out by having to be there and when we got his quote, there was nothing itemized, just a number.nThe second place I went to wouldn’t give me the time of day when I tried asking questions, so I didn’t waste my time. We were close to giving up.nThen I called Homestead. It was about 15 minutes before they closed and Derek was nothing but helpful. He wasn’t pushy, he just wanted to answer my questions as best he could and get me the info I needed. I gave him my dimensions over the phone and within 20 minutes he emailed me an itemized quote with multiple options for our install. We went and saw him in person the next day out of the blue and again, he was super friendly and helpful. He helped us find exactly what we were looking for and never tried to up sell us on anything. This was the weekend before thanksgiving and he was able to get the unit ordered and had his installers out first thing the following Saturday. The installers were amazing! There was a small complication with the install and they were able to brainstorm and resolve the issue to make everything work. The install was quick, friendly and clean.nEverything about the process from start to finish was friendly, professional, helpful and never pushy. We love our insert! It heats the house so quickly and burns the wood efficiently. The cost was as competitive as you’re going to find in the area. If we end up moving into a new house and are planning to install an insert or stove, there is nobody in the Portland area that I would even consider going to over Homestead! They’re amazing!

We were disappointed in the experience we had with this company. Like others, we wanted to support a local business. Sherri was very nice when we talked to her in the store and came to our home and measured our existing fireplace without an issue. However, similar to what others described, we then experienced unsatisfactory communication. The unit that was installed is not the color we ordered, and after many unanswered phone calls and emails (to both this company and the installing company) we have given up on this being remedied.

Homestead Stove is a wonderful family business! They are super helpful and were able to offer great recommendations for a fireplace insert based on my needs. I will definitely use Homestead again for future stove purchases.
