One of my favorite places to PICK UP authentic MIDDLE EASTERN/MEDITERRANEAN food in town. The Baklava is delicious. The decor leaves something to be desired, but the family that runs the joint is MORE than WARM and WELCOMING and the FOOD makes UP FOR THE DECOR. Even if you are dinning alone the family inspires an atmosphere of respect & TOGETHERNESS that you feel when you walk in the door and is everything missing from CONTEMPORARY DINNING. Portland used to have an OLD VICTORIAN HOUSE that a FAMILY CONVERTED TO A RESTAURANT that served nothing but, DOWN HOME AMERICANA FOOD in their BASEMENT/RESTAURANT and that is the only other dinning experience that promoted a unique FAMILY ATMOSPHERE OF TOGETHERNESS that I have had. Delicious Saffron infused rice. My LAMB GYRO SANDWICH was seasoned well and prepared perfectly. Love getting food here when I can, but it is USUALLY OFF my BEATEN PATH and so I have to schedule a time to SNEAK IN.

The rating is for the food, which was excellent. We did take out and happy we did. The dining area was really run down and dreary. That would get one star. Go there for the food and do take out.

The old man and his wife are always kind and there food is always tasteful and clean.ive had everything on the menu i just wish they served dates but its a great place

Good authentic food as well as good prices and serving size. I just wish fries were offered with the gyros but I understand it is not medditarian.
