We just wrapped up the Puppy Head Start program with Deb. Our 5 mos old Black Lab was ready to learn commands and the one-on-one short sessions helped us build consistency at home on basic commands, socialization in public, and loose leash walk with a gentle lead. We are pleased with the results that helped to calm her puppy exuberance as she is rapidly growing. Overall, the entire staff was friendly from front desk reservations/pick-up to other trainers and staff when we utilized daycare. I highly recommend Deb if you are seeking a trainer that is confident in working with you to plan outcomes, has a true love of dogs that shows in her connection with them, and is pleasant and professional. We reviewed four recommendations and selected Deb after our consultation based on her use of positive behavior training. We are happy for ourselves and Gia that we did!
We took our 3 year old recently-adopted dog for training with Deb, who was extremely thorough and patient, but firm. She worked with our dog and then taught us techniques and proper vocabulary to get the desired responses and behaviors from our dog. After a week of training, our dog was no longer a nightmare (hard pulling, barking, lunging) to take on walks and could follow commands for wait, come, and down. I highly recommend Deb and the training!
My bernedoodle puppy Boston attended the Puppy Head Start Program. The program was perfect for him to learn commands and skills. When he started the program he was often running out the door without permission, jumping up on the table, and had trouble walking on the leash. The skills that Deb and Kristin taught him were so helpful. He learned to listen to us better. They also taught me how to use the commands with him and had me practice. I would highly recommend this program!!!
I can't say enough good things about our experience with the pet training at the VCA Village Park Animal Hospital and The Range Pet Lodge. We adopted a puppy from IndyHumane in April, and we had no idea what we were getting into! Gus wasn't potty trained, could barely walk on a leash and was very, very nippy with us during play (which seemed like all the time!). But we knew he was a sweet dog. I felt better after my first conversation with Deb. She asked a ton of questions and listened to my concerns. I felt relieved even though it was going to be about a month before Gus started school.nDeb trained Gus -- and us -- for five days; we would drop him off in the morning and pick him up in the afternoon. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday she worked with us with Gus. It was AMAZING! Not only did he behave for Deb, but we were able to replicate what she was teaching him.nWe now know what to do to to help Gus make good choices. We know what is appropriate behavior and what we need to reinforce. Like a child, he seems to appreciate having rules!nI didn't price a bunch of training places because our vet recommended Deb, but I was shocked by how reasonable I thought the cost was. I know folks who have paid close to the same amount for one-hour, weekly group training. No way can that compare to the attention Gus got from Deb and staff.nI'll say it again, Deb is the best!
We needed for our new puppy to get training for his anxiety and low confidence. Deb and Kristen are simply amazing, They took a very anxious and under confident puppy (and sometimes me being the owner had some of the same issues in how to properly handle him) to a confident and much less anxious pup. They gave us the skills and tools to make this successful at home and out in public. The individual family lessons each week were tailored to our pup and family needs. No question or concern went unanswered and I know that Max will miss his Ms. Deb this week since he loved to go see her. I would not hesitate to use them again for any further training needs that may occur with Max.
