Elkhart Social Security Office

So i recently became a citizen and changed my last name so i need a new ssc with my husband's last name i was told by the first person i talked to to fill out my forms and a copy of my certificate and the court order so i did not even 3 days later i got everything back with no explanation as to why so i called back and the lady told me to wait a week and someone would call me to set up an appointment i waited and nothing i called today and the guy was so rude and told me to sent in my original documents in the mail so i said no I'm not doing that he just said then just wait until we open our office and continue using the same name what in do i need to do to do my name chage? It's so fricken frustrating worst experience ever

I drove 30 miles one way this morning to find the office closed. Nothing on line to indicate they would be closed. I had checked around 8:30. Currently nothing on line to indicate how long they plan to stay closed. Does any one know?

The Elkhart office was very helpful over the phone.

Don’t be in a hurry. Staff is efficient and courteous but the Elkhart office is very busy. It took me about an hour on a late Thursday morning but well worth the time considering my issue was resolved. I only have good things to say about the staff at the Elkhart office.

Impossible to be helped when you CANNOT get through on the phone... I then proceed to fill out all the necessary info online and still NO response!!nI guess I’ll try actually going into the office and see if I can get helped...
