Dr. Lee was very caring and helpful. The staff has not been helpful. From needing referrals/information relayed to look at all your options or you need help from the social worker for dental they are rude and unhelpful. As many find out you must get dental clearance before treatment. Their staff sets you up with a a dentist. If you are like me and need head and neck radiation this is an important expensive step if you have dental problems. (Over 3K in my case.) The social worker was hurried and said you’ll have to go to the township trustee. “We just sent someone else who needed around the same amount.” She said med insurance wouldn’t cover it. I’m posting mainly to tell you if you are in my situation, medical insurance will absolutely cover your dental if you need radiation in most cases. I knew this when she said that but I wasn’t going to argue with her. Dental offices don’t want to file with medical insurance though so they want you to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed. So I called the trustee but changed my mind. I would rather forgo treatment than take thousands from the trustee that people need for assistance for rent etc with COVID and they just forked out a ton for this other gentleman she told me about. Especially when medical will pay. I called my insurance and said you have to find me a dentist that WILL bill them. (IU Health plans is my med ins.) They said IU Health Oral surgery at University hosp will bill! I called asked the ofc to inform the social worker so other patients can get help rather than going to the trustee. Flat uncaring “alright thank you” so I wanted to post here to hopefully help others. I doubt the staff will let the social worker know or that she cares to know.nAgain the actual medical staff are very caring. It’s a shame that IU health has such poor, uncaring unhelpful medical staff at almost every ofc I’ve been to. I have had some excellent Drs and nurses though.
