See my story below:nnAbout 5 weeks ago, my son randomly refused to nurse. I was exclusively breastfeeding him up until then and was devastated. I mean bawling and panic attack devastation thinking I lost a connection with him that I had before. I had to syringe feed him for a week, and ended up taking him to the pediatrician because my husband and I couldn’t shake the feeling of the hours and hours of crying and the pain that our little guy seemed to be going through since week 5 of his life. The refusing feeding was our last straw. Afterwards, there wasn’t anything the ped could see from the outside so we were referred to lactation where they weren’t offering in person appointments because of Covid. I. TRIED. EVERYTHING. to get my son to nurse again but he just wouldn’t and would end up screaming and crying all day. Lactation referred me to a beautiful woman—Kathy Thomas. She was a MIRACLE and a blessing from God. She came to my home and got to see the real raw version of my son when I was told that I wasn’t crazy and he was in pain and needed help. With her guidance, I was able to see chiropractic care, PT, speech therapy, and ended up getting a posterior tongue tie lasered. The PT I was referred to was a MIRACLE And blessing from God too—Leanne! Immediately after meeting Leanne, I could tell she was so genuine and wanted to help my son in any way she could. She was so kind and I could truly see her beautiful heart in her work shining through. With her help and Kathy’s, I was able to stand up to my ped and tell him what I thought my son needed despite being told it was just “colic” and that our plan of action most likely wouldn’t work. Well here we are, after almost 5 weeks of refusal, pumping and bottle feeding and continuing to stay strong. My little guy is nursing again. We are on day 8 of EBF. We are getting the help we need and going to all 3 therapies each week. I’ve never felt more empowered and I know I couldn’t have done it without Kathy and Leanne, my husband, and God most importantly.nnLeanne has been an invaluable resource that I would NEVER take for granted and both my son and I are so so blessed by her!
