Take a step back in time and enjoy a steak the way it is supposed to be enjoyed. Our server Ricardo, was excellent and has worked there 32 years. The restaurant has been in this same spot since 1920's. Great Frank Sinatra atmosphere and food was great! Enjoy... and leave room for the cheesecake.
I'm not the type to leave reviews for every single restaurant I visit, however this one bothered me enough to leave one. I had high expectations for supposedly one of Indy's best steak houses. I will begin with my drink, I ordered a simple coke, as I don't drink alcohol; this coke was brought to me with our waters and was never refiled for our entire two hour experience. I was not even offered a refill, and I asked our server for another and they seemed to forget. The shrimp was a nice experience for everyone at the table, honestly the only nice experience. There was six of us and we all ordered steaks; every single one of us asked for a medium well steak. To our surprise, not a single steak came out the same. They all ranged from medium rare (very red in the middle), all the way to well done(absolutely no color in the middle). The filet mignon, (Which I believe was a sirloin steak passed off as a filet mignon), my wife ordered was absolutely flattened with very dark black char marks and well done; where when she cut through it the steak was stringy. The steaks were barely seasoned and every steak was less than warm, the only things hot were the king crab mac and cheese plates we ordered. For a highly rated steak house I was expecting to taste some of the best steaks I've ever had. This was not the case, I felt very disappointed. For spending almost $700, this experience was nothing like I was told it would be or read about how it would be. If I were you I would save my money and go elsewhere.
Heard great things about this restaurant, so decided to check it out while in town. Hostesses were amazing upon my arrival. I got there a little early but they guided me to the upstairs lounge and I waited for my table. Mark was my server. I was ready to order from the jump, so when it came to my steak temperature he warned me that steaks are cooked different there and said I should get the Well Done if I want some pink. I asked if it would be overcooked and he said no. When the steak finally arrived the crab meat was ice cold (Oscar Style) and when I cut into the steak it was well overcooked. He even used his flashlight to determine that there was no hint of pink. I already waited an hour and had plans on making it back to the Keystone area In time to watch majority of the debate, but I waited for a new steak and asked for it to-go. I guess they assumed I wouldn’t cut into it until I got to the hotel because once again it was overcooked. I generally dislike sending food back or getting on the kitchen’s bad side so I took the second overcooked steak with me, plus it was too late to go to another steakhouse without prior reservation and I was not about to starve all night. I believe steak temperatures need to be addressed with staff especially if recommendations are being made. I’m only visiting so I more than likely will not be back. The two stars are specifically for the front of house service and delicious shrimp cocktail
All I can say is if you're in the area get reservations. This place is a must stop amazing experience. The food is incredible. The shrimp cocktail is great the sauce might be a little spicy to some but a great choice before one of the best steaks you will find anywhere. Five star all the way around !!! You will not be disappointed in your decision or experience if you decide to visit.
Ask for Katie. Wonderful, awesome experience. Food perfect. Waitstaff and managers very professional yet fun with a sense of humor. Katie is extremely knowledgeable, not only of the menu and wines, but with the cocktails and the local area.nKatie helped make our combined family birthdays a special occasion.
