Hemlock Cliffs is a gem. We drove the hour from Louisville to reach this place not expecting much. But to our surprise, we were thrilled we made the journey. Descending from the parking lot into the box canyon, revealing moss covered cliffs above was a real delight. We originally thought we’d walk the short 1.4 mile hike rather quickly. But marveling at the rocky cliffs above, our quickened steps slowed. All in all, we spent 2 hours on the trail, including a little scramble up to the top of one of the cliffs.

My husband and 1&1/2 year old and I had a blast on this loop! It would have been hard for our toddler if we didn't have the hiking carrier, but he walked a good portion along the creek bed looking for rocks and frogs. Some parts of the loop are steep, but I would classify this as a moderate hike. Super fun to see all of the cliffs!

We love to walk this trail. It has become pretty overgrown, so it's harder to see all the cliffs, but it's still beautiful. Our most recent trip, we noticed that some areas on the trail, have become quite narrow; so be mindful of that. To complete the entire loop, you do have to either climb up, or down some some rocks, depending on which way you start; otherwise, you would have to turn around and do the trail all over again.

It was an amazing day to be out and about. Definitely will be going again. Loved climbing all the rocks and the trails where beautiful ud83dude0d

Several groups were there, but all wore masks when approaching each other on trails. Fantastic hike, a couple of small stream crossings and some large stone steps to maneuver (but you could reach out to steady yourself on the rocks along the side)
