If you're looking for home style food for a decent price while shopping in Brown County this is a good option. The food is okay - it's a good place to get a sandwich. The Lucy's Chicken Pot Pie IS NOT a pot pie - it is chicken soup with a cracker. The queso is made in house and is delicious.nnThe restaurant has a warm homey feel. The staff was okay, polite but they just seemed very busy. If you go in the fall expect to wait a little bit for a table, especially if you go on the weekend.nnI have not stayed at the inn or had their breakfast buffet. From other people I've heard good things about their breakfast buffet.
We visited Nashville during the afternoon of 11/6/20. We walked the town and shopped. When it came time to eat at 5:00 PM, we chose the Artist colony because it was a nice building and had outside dining. The menu was extensive. I chose the ham and cheese sandwich on a Kaiser bun with fries and my wife chose the fried shrimp dinner. Everything was fine until the food arrived. My sandwich consisted of three grocery store quality thin slices of ham with a slice of American cheese. The bun fell apart when I picked the sandwich up. My wife's shrimp was pre breaded and chewy and her mashed potatoes were cold. The food was absolutely nothing to brag about. I would put the quality of the food on the same level as Denny's. Definitely not worth the $32 they charged us.
We visited the Artist Colony Inn during the last week of October 2020. We almost booked in for two nights, and I’m so happy we didn’t! I’ve never slept on a more uncomfortable bed, and I’ve slept in the ground, in a tent! A firm mattress sits on a piece of plywood, in a bed frame. Every time you move, even just an arm, it’s accompanied by a cacophony of sound, the drapes are unlined, so even on the third floor, light from hilly streets gets in. Their are unsecured rugs on the floors, that frequently slide when you encounter them, and if your ceiling slopes into the room, as ours did, sliding on the rug means slapping you head into the sloped roof. We left tired and headachy, and that’s not the way you should leave an Inn, and highly priced Inn at that. We got into town early, and booked based on the 4 stars, that turn out to be for the restaurant, not the Inn. It was a cold, rainy day, and you can’t get to your room until 4. There is no lobby or lounge area for guests to sit and read or just stare at a fire or out the window when the weather isn’t conducive to walking around. The rooms are small and spartan, they do appear to be clean, so that’s in their favor.nYears and years ago, my grandfather got caught in a snowstorm on his way through Nashville, and was put up in the old jail for the night, as there were no hotels there then. I think he must have passed a more comfortable night there than we did at this Inn.
The precautions were awsome. The pot pie was delicious and so are the sun fries. The apple crisp was just okay. The server was awesome and very accommodating! Thank you so much
Very very clean which was refreshing especially with all that’s going on right now. Super cute and quaint. Walls are pretty thin, but loved the feel of everything. Only 4 stars because our balcony window backed up to someone else’s bathroom, very odd design. Think for this reason they need to consider fogging up that window for privacy reasons. Otherwise everything was great. Free parking & breakfast was a plus!
