Social Security Office

I called twice recently, at least 30 mins wait to go through the 800 number but once you get an agent; they are very helpful. All paper applications are delayed at this point because most are working from home with limited access to office and mail. The agent set up a phone appointment for me and a really nice lady from Hackensack office called me the next day and filed an online application for me. I also visited the office in person before COVID closure, the lady who helped me was pleasant and courteous as well.

Got denied twice with Oppositional Defiant Disorder building is nice inside & out, touchscreen elevators & basement floor a thumbs up. I applied a third time with an ICMS worker & got approved. I think SSI should be twice a month. $814 a month I have schizophrenia exacerbation

this experience was worse than going to Hudson county SSI i couldn't believe it. first lets start with the website not being useful at all. if you try calling any number they give you expect at least a 30 mins wait and people are not nice when they answer. do not attempt to make an appointment because thats false information. i have been trying since i moved here just to get my name changed with my divorce cree and its December and i still have not been able to. so i showed up to this location in Hackensack, just to be greeted by this rude arrogant security officer ( who walked away from me as i was speaking to him) i was standing outside, in the cold, pregnant with my son, and we were was not allowed to speak to anyone or enter the building. the rude wanna be robocop said to call the number on the door before running back to his desk to watch netflix. he said if i don't have an appointment than i couldn't come in and then proceeded to say they have no one in the office and the office is closed. so if i did make an appointment how would the office be closed?? this place is completely unprofessional as i was standing outside you can see through the windows, employees laughing and looking at you from their desk. doing nothing and chitchatting.i was not the only person standing outside wanting to speak to a professional in SSI. as if people are not already struggling to get things done. i do not recommend going to this building. it'll just become more frustrating for you. as they are not concerned about woking but they are getting paid to do nothing.

Even with an appointment I waited 2 hours at this location when I came after my husband's passing. Then the lady had too many windows open on her computer for my account and got shut out. So a total waste. Even though they have all our documents, my place of birth is incorrect and cannot be corrected without submitting documentation in person all over again--which is impossible with the virus closure.nnI went back a year later to apply for benefits. Was denied. Then this year when I went and sat for three hours, was told by the representative that I should have been collecting benefits two years ago! Well, I was denied by the same office repeatedly. The office had no record of my request and the I was told that I should have asked for a receipt. How are we supposed to know that? I lost out on several thousand in benefits.nnThey even sent out letters saying I was ineligible. Same thing happened to a friend and I told her to ignore the letter after my experience and to go ahead and apply for her benefits.nnThe representatives on the national number are so much better but unfortunately the reviews and processing happen at Hackensack for Bergen County. Is anyone paying attention to these reviews and doing something about it at the office?

I hate Social Security alot I work for Uber Eats and I cant finish my Pro points because I will go over thats triple BS
