An extortion scheme under the guise of insurance.nnVisited my G.P.'s office late January for an issue that I was already familiar with. I was seen by the Nurse Practitioner and she confirmed the issue. The Nurse Practitioner told me she would need to refer me to a specialist because they did not perform this particular procedure in-office. I asked if I could just be seen at Providence Bridgeport, but she instead referred me to Clackamas Surgical Group (which is Legacy). When I inquired how long before I would see the specialist, she said it would be 1-2 days.nnI paid a $25 co-pay just to have my self-diagnosis confirmed.nnI found it odd that they did not do this procedure in office. When I resided in Canada, I experienced the same issue. My G.P. in Canada took care of the issue in office and sent me on the road to recovery.nnI visited Clackamas Surgical that same Friday. My G.P.'s office had yet to send any prior-authorization and/or paperwork over.nnThe visit with Clackamas Surgical turned out to be more of consultation than anything else. I was told it was past the 24-48 window where they could perform the procedure. I was asked to follow-up in about 2 weeks if things did not get better.nnMy particular issue did get worse and therefore, I did follow-up with Clackamas Surgical. This time I had to pay $50 because it was a specialist.nnThe Doctor did perform a procedure, but not the procedure necessary to address the issue at hand. I was then told that by next visit I may need surgery.nnToday Clackamas Surgical contacted me to reschedule my appointment. I informed them that I was going on vacation the weekend of the week they wanted to reschedule me and that it may not be ample time for me to recover if I required surgery. I was told that I could come in that week ($50 office visit) and if needed schedule the procedure after my vacation ($50 office visit + cost of surgery).nnWhat should have been a simple procedure has cost me time away from work (money), office visit cost (money), and led to a worsening of my issue (as acknowledged by the Specialist).nnUnfortunately, the lowest rating Google offers is a 1-star, otherwise I would offer a 0-stars.nnIn closing, I do have to say that the Canadian healthcare system, particularly in the Edmonton, Alberta area, is far superior to the healthcare system here in the Portland area. I say this specifically because my Portland G.P.'s office couldn't even perform a simple local anesthetic, incision, and extraction they need a specialist to do it. Yet, my Canadian G.P.'s office was able to.

I've given this place two chances, no more. Not only are the surgeons dismissive and unprofessional, but they find it totally ok to make a patient wait over an hour after the scheduled appointment time without being called back.nnI was also told this is how they run, they are always late or behind. Totally unacceptable, they don't value their patients time and think it's just fine to be unprofessional.

I have received nothing but great care both as an inpatient and an outpatient. The doctors and staff really care about their patients. They have always been on time with my appointments.
