Powder River Correctional Facility

everyone was super friendly! I was pretty scared at 1st since I never even been to any kind of prison or jail, and I really didn't know what to expect. But the guards were super nice and I felt really comfortable. I also liked how u can play games and get soda or snacks from the vending machines. it was also nice that u cant see other inmates, only ones who also have visitations. all in all the facility was nice and clean, and the staff was super friendly. Thanks for making my experience a great one.

This facility employs young, inexperienced and immature counseling staff that are given more sole responsibility (that is clearly unchecked by any more qualified members) than is effective and warranted. There is a high population of inmates just waiting to get into this facility that cannot get in simply because of error and efficiency of the facilities staff. When visiting this facility be prepared to wait in line outside of the gates well into the visiting hours provided. I waited almost a full hour before they accepted me inside and buzzed me through the gates. How very pathetic but they can only manage one visiting person or family at a time inside for the entrance process. When this inmates visitor has satisfied every step of the process they buzz in the next visitor. So camp out like you would for a rock and roll concert. Otherwise you might end up like me driving 4 hours 45 minutes and they will waste an hour of the only 2 and a half hour visiting time. I could run circles around these over paid and under qualified idiots! Such a waste of our hard earned tax paying dollars. In summary they are paid well and they don't know how or refuse to multi task or utilize efficiency or speed.! Thumbs down for the immaturity and questionable reasoning for the powers within this far over rated facility!

Everyone was nice to me. Yes, I was scared but I still felt cared for.nI'm 63years of age, and everyone treated me with respected! I didn't cause any problems because I'm not that type of person in the first place. I was quilty of what I did!nnThe only thing I can point out is that the food is horrible. I'm from Weiser Idaho orriginally, and I know that there is a Hugh amount of beef, vegetables, eggs etc that could feed the inmates better. Milk is very available.nnOther than that, everything and everyone was far better than I had expeced.

Lived near here for a minute wasn't afraid of break out or stray inmates guess that says something.
