Straight forward hotel, great people work there, fair price. Down side, the hang out area is at the front desk so you are literally cutting through people's dinner when going to/from your room. No overhead light so its pretty dark in the room, when cooking (foreman grill) the power in the room cuts out. The lady at the front desk is fast about turning it on. The people at the hotel are completely friendly and inviting.
Very friendly staff clean rooms.. some remodel work coaching be done in the bathrooms. But other than that it's a decent place to lay your head
Very friendly staff. Quite and clean. It has a nice little place to eat. Very pet friendly. We would recommend if your in Beulah to stay there
From the beginning I want to mention that this is not a high-class motel of any sort. If you're paying less than $50 a night you get what you pay for. Anybody visiting should understand that. The motel is clean and the staff are the friendliest people. Very caring and accommodating. They enjoy their jobs and the guest that come by. With that in mind, here is how this business can improve.nn1. Better Lighting; there are countless burnt-out bulbs and hallway light fixtures with mismatched bulb colors (some cool white, some soft white). Purchasing bulbs of the same color temperature will bring consistent lighting throughout premises. You can buy bulk bulbs online for dirt cheap and have them delivered. Light fixtures need to be dusted and ceiling fixtures need to be debugged and wiped down. Stained and broken ceiling tiles need to be replaced.n2. Odor; upon entering the motel I encountered the distinct smell of cat urine. The carpets absorb the smell and it lingers throughout the property. Also, I'm pretty sure people are smoking in the rooms because my room distinctly smelled of residual cigarette smoke. Even after opening the window for several hours the smell still lingered. Replacing the carpets, laundering the curtains, and spraying deodorizer on the ceiling tiles will fix this issue.n3. Security; The front desk is closed at night and anyone can walk into the motel unnoticed. The east entrance is unlocked 24/7 with no key card lock so anyone can enter at any time. Also, some rooms have doors that can be opened to adjoining rooms. There's nothing wrong with this many motels have this feature. The problem however, is there are two doors that both open to adjourn the rooms and neither of them have deadbolts. The handles have a latch, however it is not flush with the strike plate and can easily be kicked open with little effort. I stacked the furniture against the doors.nn4. Noise levels, because of the doors mentioned above, I can hear almost everything in the room next to me. During the day it's not that bad but at night it seems like everyone is awake and wants to make noise. Replacing the room to room doors with drywall and thicker doors with deadbolts will fix this problem and the security issue.nn5. Dated Fixtures; The lamps, headboard, cabinets and nightstand, sink hand shower are all dated. Clean, and functional, but dated. The easiest fix is new calking around the sink and tub, and new lamp shades. Consider painting the furniture and rooms more modern colors. The wall art is bland low saturated motel art, but doesn't add or take away from the quality of the room. The one fixture I couldn't stand, however, was the toilet seat. It was stained yellow, scratched up and dirty. Also, there was no seat cover, just a seat, leaving the toilet open while it was flushed. I went to the hardware store and bought a new, commercial use one, and replaced it myself. I don't think they will mind.nn6. Better Outside Appearance: they need a paint job or a slate rock facade around the building, it looks unappealing in it's current state. Also it would be best to invest in a new parking lot or at least new gravel rocks, it is very muddy. Plant some low maintenance perennial plants alongside the perimeter of the building. And invest in some new outside lighting, a well lit property deters crime.nnOverall, there's quite a bit of improvement to be made, a lot of it however, is easy and cost effective. Even if they aren't in a financial situation to undergo any huge projects, they can still tackle some little ones until they get more business. Then save up for major renovations. This is a very well-placed property and has a lot of potential, it's worth an investment. In its current state however, I cannot recommend staying here. The issues ended up being too much and I had to cut my stay short. If you want cheap, and aren't bothered by the issues I pointed out, this might be right for you, but for most people, I don't think they will enjoy staying here. I really hope they take my suggestions to heart and make this hotel great!
Not a bad place considering where it is located. My brother was working in the area, and they always stay here, when they are working in Beulah, N. Dakota..Good food, a friendly bar, and great people, in general.
