I'm not exactly sure which fire department services 85th street and Holmes RD. Our alarm started a few minutes before midnight and it's now 13:37AM!!!!! Still no fire department. When I called the non emergency number they said someone just called a few minutes prior to me calling. At this time the alarm had been sounding off for over 20 minutes. I asked them, wasn't the fire department automatically notified or dispatched to a fire alarm? It's their big red box in our lobby? Are you ever connected to our box. He said he would put in a service or maintenance ticket to check it out! It's now 12:42am. And still no fire department! Our building would have been totally burnt to the ground if it was a real fire. I will definitely be following up with this. They have to do better than this!

Stopped by today with my nephew and interrupted the guys watching a Chiefs game.nnAll the guys were super friendly despite the interruption and Jamie took me and my 4 year old nephew on a tour of the station opening various compartments and letting him sit in different vehicles.nnVery much appreciate him taking the time to make not only a 4 year olds day, but this 34 year old as well.

I was driving on 435 today near worlds of fun and this vehicle that said SMFD sped past me. They did not have their lights on they clearly weren’t going to an emergency, but they were using their license plate designation obviously to go well over the speed limit. Is that safe and appropriate? Doesn’t seem like it if there’s not an emergency to go to when you’re just casual driving

Every morning I Drive by the fire station while taking my son to daycare. This morning all of the emergency vehicles were pulled out front and were warming up. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to show them to my son up close, so we turned around and went back. After looking at the vehicles, we were greeted by Battalion Chief Chris. Chris was very nice and even gave my son (21 mo) a toy helmet and sticker. This made our day! Thank you!nnClayton McLaughlin
