Dr. Martire was and probably always will be the only respectful, extremely knowledgeable, and compassionate pain management doctor I’ve seen and I’ve had DDD since I was 17 years old; I’m now 46. I’m not currently receiving pain management as I’m close to wheel chair status and my body just can’t handle medications anymore. He treated me for several years and I drove 4 hours to see him. He understands spinal pain because he himself had experienced it and if you’ve ever tried to explain it to a doctor who hasn’t then you’ll understand the difference between sympathy and empathy; empathy must be experienced. He did everything he could for me and got me my consultation for surgery with an A+++ surgeon, but unfortunately I’m just not a candidate for a surgical procedure. This doctor won’t treat you like a drug seeking addict but as a real patient and he definitely can tell the difference. I’ve been treated horrible by many pain management centers ever since the opioid epidemic started. Prior to that big pharmaceutical BS; I never had a problem with any doctors before. At this time I’m not using opioid medications because they stopped working and the one medication I will take that I was on when I lived in Europe isn’t used in the US much because it’s not a medication you can profit much from and the US requires you have a special license to prescribe it. I had a radical hysterectomy and my doctor asked me what I would take and when I said 5mg methadone tablets he told me he wasn’t licensed for it. Crazy! It’s the only medication I’ve taken that you actually need less of the longer you’re on it. So, I basically can’t walk anymore and have little life left but at least for a few years I had some relief from Dr. Martire.
