My health insurance covers my child for a routine eye exam at 100% for kids under the age of 5. I took my 4 yr old son in to get checked. But Dr. Doerksen coded the visit in a way that it is not considered preventative to be covered at 100%. My insurance even called his office since he can resubmit the claim with the preventative code so that is is fully covered by my insurance and Dr. Doerksen refused. I even called his office to ask him to resubmit claim with the preventative claim code and he wouldn't talk to me on the phone had to keep relaying messages through his billing personnel saying he was unwilling to resubmit with other code. Why would I want to pay a portion of a claim that my insurance is willing to pay 100% for? I will not be going back to his office and I would not recommend anyone else to him either since he will just try to milk you for money.

Always have had a good experience here. In and out promptly and the doctor is quite personable and knowledgeable.

I would leave a 0 star if it were allowed but it's not. My son was in for a preventative eye exam. We chose this place because our insurance informed us they were an in network provider and our apt would be 100 percent covered. After our apt we received a bill for the apt. After contacting our insurance they informed us the Dr had coded it wrong and he just needed to enter the correct code for it to be covered. When we contacted doerksen eye clinic we were told NO they would not be willing to re submit with the correct codes. We then had the insurance company reach out and again Doerksen refused. This has to be the most unethical way of handling pt care. It you are looking for an honest and professional optometrist this is NOT the place for you. We will be reaching out to the BBB as well to file a formal complaint as well. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS!

Dr Doerksen was incredibly welcoming and friendly. He took extra time to talk to me about my eyes, my history, and any questions I had. He showed me the best tricks for inserting contacts and helped me feel at ease throughout the checkup. I have a toddler and he even told me (more like a friend than a salesman) that they offer free eye exams for 3 year olds so make sure to bring her in after her next birthday. I felt so comfortable there that I didn't mind the time it took out of my day for the exam. The wait was short (I hadn't even finished filling out my new patient form when they called me back) and the service was superb throughout. I'll definitely be back and will be recommending them to my friends and family.
