The Kill Creek Church has been demolished but the old Kill Creek Cemetery remains on the grounds of the old church. The Kill Creek Church was originally a Mennonite Church. At the cemetery my ancestor Elizabeth (Elisabeth) Doney Shellenberger is buried as well as famed Howard Ruede from his book Sod House Days based on this area of Osborne County largely from Kill Creek and Tilden Townships. My ancestors William and Isabella (Couchman) Stevens, Henry and Froenika (Neuschwanger) Neuschwanger, Samuel Jefferson and Christiana (Neuschwanger) Shellenberger, and Abraham and Elizabeth (Doney) Shellenberger all lived on homesteads in this area along the border of Kill Creek and Tilden Townships. There was a community known as Kill Creek with a store and schoolhouse just south of the Kill Creek Church and Cemetery as well as the District No. 28 Schoolhouse (Guyer/Mayview School) to the northeast at the corner of the William Stevens property.
