Fort Leavenworth Visitor Control Center

This is an older base but it is really awesome. The layout and history is cool. The pictures I posted are a testament to the sacrifices of the Buffalo Soldiers, and the history of blacks and their contrabutions to Tue military and our republic.

I saw some bearded guy who worked there tell a guy to remove his hood. He was rather rude about it and the request didn't make sense. The bearded guy then barked at the front desk guy about no hoods in the building. Something about it rubbed me the wrong way. We all had hats on. There was clearly no prohibitions on other types of head coverings, so to single out hoods without explanation kinda makes it seem like that rule is based someone's personal prejudice and not of any actual safety or security concern. It all just seemed unprofessional and unwelcoming.

There is lovely historical arquitecture all over the place. There are two large, breathtakingly beautiful cemeteries with tombstones from soldiers from World Wars I and II. The people are friendly and welcoming. It is small, so it's a tight-knit community.

There's got to be a better way, but for now it's all we got.
