My 21 year-old son was referred to Dr. Sheikh by his primary care doctor. At the first visit, he was given a nerve test. At the time, Dr. Sheikh determined that it was not a nerve issue, and referred him for physical therapy. He stated that “maybe he was sleeping on his arm wrong.” After several visits to the physical therapist, my son’s symptoms were not improving. In fact, his symptoms worsened. My son, then, made another appointment with Dr. Sheikh, and was told to increase his pain medication and to see an orthopedist. No further testing or treatment was given at that second appointment. My son made his own appointment with an orthopedist, who immediately stated that he did not think that this was an orthopedic issue. The orthopedist recommended an MRI to see what was, actually, going on. The day my son had his MRI, he was immediately referred to KU Spine Center. As it turns out, he has a tumor on his spinal cord. He will be having surgery as soon as possible to remove the tumor. I feel that Dr. Sheikh dismissed my son, and his true need for care and relief. His lack of attentiveness, also, cost us more money in medical bills. I am just grateful that we pursued the issue with competent medical professionals. Now, my son is getting the care he deserved a few months ago from Dr. Sheikh. I will not EVER recommend Dr. Sheikh, and we will not be seeing him again.
