This is long but I want to give a thorough review for the care my elderly mom received at Advent Health Care Center, Overland Park. She was a rehab patient for about a month due to a broken hip/femur.nI can’t say enough good things! Before deciding on Advent Health Care Center my husband and I visited 2 other facilities. Although Advent Health Care Center wasn’t the newest or shiniest, I could see the staff was caring of patients and their families. We first visited with Pam, the Director of Marketing and Admissions, and Chris, the Director of Rehab. They were both very informative and showed compassion as this was a difficult time for my family.nOnce my mom was admitted, the care she received was amazing. Chris, the Director of Rehab, is stellar in her profession. What I appreciate most was the time she took to explain the different therapies mom was receiving (PT, OT, and Speech) and would then update me every few days in her progress. Learning that mom also has dementia was difficult to take in, but Chris helped me understand what it is, what to expect, and especially helped me communicate our “new normal” to my father. The other therapists (OT and Speech) were equally great in their fields in working with mom.nKate, the Social Worker, and Janie, the Business Office Manager, individually spent time helping me understand the Medicare process. Janie walked me through the Medicaid application. I appreciate all they did for me, as the daughter (and Durable Power of Attorney), of their patient.nThe nursing staff was caring and efficient. Jackson and Favour quickly became favorite CNA’s of my mom’s. I believe CNA’s have the most difficult of jobs. These two professionals treated her with kindness and respect especially while helping her with bathroom needs and hygiene. Initially mom was so embarrassed by requiring this help. She was able to maintain her dignity.nLastly, there is Peggy at the front desk. She’s friendly and welcoming. Mom enjoyed sitting in her wheel chair by Peggy as she worked on the daily crossword puzzle that Peggy saved for her each day. I noticed there were other patients that liked to do the same.nIf mom or dad need additional care in the future, there will be no hesitation in bringing them to Advent Health Care Center of Overland Park.

Smell of urine is constant and overwhelming. Patients lay in urine soaked beds, staff is unattentive. Asked numerous times for help or to change a situation with no results. However they are calling nonstop for money. Do not let your love ones live here.

Just left there for a tour for my father in law who will be needing a rehab facility after a stint in the hospital. The place was filthy and the overwhelming smell of urine made my nose burn and left me with a headache. Come on people!! How much does insurance pay you? And once insurance drops it’s $7300 a month? Absolutely absurd! Trash on the floors, alarms beeping constantly. These elderly monarch of their families deserve more than that! U should be ashamed!

i walked in this place and could feel the calming peace . i am disturbed by the other experiences . i know the ups and downs of nursing facilities and to hear that someone had a negative experience and sends it out as the official opinion is sad. . yet we all have good ones and bad one and good and bad days. so i hope that the others can get through their experiences and have found peace.

When Mom transitioned here she hadn’t had a shower in a couple days and I was assured she’d be showered the day after her arrival. Despite me and multiple family members inquiring we were repeatedly lied to and she didn’t receive help with a shower for 5 days when we became fed up and did our best to assist her ourselves.nNow 8 months later despitenCalling their billing department multiple times to discuss the bills they sent us before running our insurance and the bills they continue to send us even after I’ve received an explanation of benefits saying we know nothing. I’m receiving a collections threat for some $981 amount that is a totally new amount that doesn’t match any previous bills or statements. I would avoid this understaffed, undertrained profit pit ran by some corporation who clearly doesn’t care for their patients or employees.
