Quality Inn & Suites Lawrence – University Area hotel

Had a great stay the 3 days I was here. The front desk staff are great. The housekeeping is far better than the hotel I had stayed at previously to this one. The location is great as it's not surrounded by other hotels as it is at most other hotel locations in Lawrence. My room was decent for the price. The only reason I have it 4 stars is that they do allow you to extend your stay daily but it's at the rack rate instead of allowing you to book again thru an online service to get the savings that they offer.

Room was clean. Checkin easy. No complaints here! Would stay again. However exterior could be updated.

My stay here was the always melancholy last travel evening of a typical 10-day road trip I took with my Chocolate Lab Mike. I was looking for something a bit nice on this lovely spring evening and was surprised at having trouble finding something that fit my needs and budget (a theoretically low-demand Sunday evening before Memorial Day). With branding associated with the older, more “tired” corner of the Comfort Hotels portfolio, the quality of Quality Inn properties can go either way. This property was the closest to what I figured I was looking for so … I went for it.nnOutside this seemed like a big hotel; immediately I noticed a couple of oddball people walking on the left side the property and wondered what kind of guests it typically got. Get a room far from that end of the motel, I thought. Once inside, the front desk area did indeed appear older and more “tired” -- but very pleasant, comfortable and quiet. The young woman desk clerk was friendly and got me a great price in the remote part of the hotel I wanted. The room was large and very comfortable, if unremarkable. I remember the AC was off when I entered the room, but it quickly cooled down comfortably.nnApart from the lack of any breakfast items (minus one star) I had a very pleasant stay (despite the branding business and some of the bad reviews) … I can imagine your stay might be different depending on the time of year (this being a college town) among other factors.

Enjoyed our stay here while visiting friends. Location was convenient to downtown and KU. Easy access in and out of hotel to local streets. Staff was friendly and efficient, even in accommodating a late check out for us. Our son enjoyed the pool in the evening.nBreakfast was good: eggs, sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy, fruit, cereal, waffles, bagels, orange and apple juice, coffee, etc.nRoom was clean and ready for us even though we arrived 30 minutes early.nLarge fridge was appreciated. We liked the fact that the vanity area was outside the toilet and shower which accommodated ease of multiple people getting ready in the morning.nI would definitely recommend.
