We live have lived in Washington State and now Arizona and wanted to experience the midwest on our bikes. We stayed at the Garnett Inn in Garnett which is close to the trail. We then rode south to approximately Colony. We rode on an early weekday morning in mid October. It was exactly as you might expect. Deer running in front of us and behind. Pastures with cattle, rolling hills, and grain elevators in the distance. The smell of fall was in the air. The trail surface was very hard packed smooth limestone gravel. The wind was slightly annoying coming from the south but perfect coming back. Take your time and enjoy this kansas treasure. I hope they continue to expand trails like this to create a network.
