Had my hair styled by Jaclyn, who did an amazing job. I was very happy. She paid close attention to the details I wanted to do with my hair. The makeup artist, Kelly was awesome as well. She did multiple touch ups for me as needed during the day and all of the ladies were just so pleasant the entire time. The mimosas that they had for our party was the perfect touch!

I had my makeup done for my engagement photos at their Des moines studio . The studio was clean and inviting. Kelly was super personable and nailed my look! I would recommend Powder Studio for anyone needing special occasion makeup. I also had my hair done here Jaclyn and I have ethnic hair so it’s very important to have a stylist who’s confident in all hair types. She was beyond amazing and exceeded my expectations and I knew the minute I started talking to her she was going to do a great job. The salon was beyond clean and the attention to detail was impeccable. I was served mimosas and treated like a queen, I would recommend to anyone and everyone. They were early and took time making sure I was happy with every single detail. If you need anything done this is the place to go!

Powder Studio is the best make wedding make up artist in Des Moines! Kelly and her team always strive to go above and beyond. Their make up is always flawless and they seriously make you look like Kim K! Not only is Kelly an amazing make up artist, but she truly cares about each of her clients and takes time to educate her clients on make you, how to do make up, and skin care prep prior to a wedding day. As a wedding planner in Des Moines, I ALWAYS recommend Powder Studio to my clients. One of things I have noticed the most about wedding days is hair and make up falling behind schedule. With Powder Studio, that never happens. They always bring enough people, they are efficient and do a great job. And because sanitation is important, they always clean make up brushes in between each application to ensure it safe and clean for the next girl in the chair. Powder Studio styled my hair and makeup for my engagement photos. I was very pleased with the results and as such, I booked them for my wedding. On the wedding day, my bridal party arrived at the downtown studio at our scheduled time of 8:00 AM to find it locked and closed. After four phone calls and one text message, I was finally able to reach Kelly at 8:20. She arrived at 8:30 to open the studio. Her explanation for being late was that she had our wedding date of 9/6 (Sunday of Labor Day weekend) marked down as 9/16 (a Wednesday) in their records. This obviously was a complete lie, but I let it go at the time due to the stress of the day. Kelly was the only makeup artist in the studio for the first hour, then at 9:30 two other makeup artists arrived. Unfortunately, no hairstylists showed up at all that day. The makeup artists attempted to style our hair starting at 10:30, which subsequently made us late for our photographer at noon. As a result of this tardiness, there was no time for me to adjust my hair style prior to leaving the salon, and we also did not have time to eat lunch that day. I left with a hairstyle more closely resembling space buns than a bridal updo. Obviously, it was a chaotic and extremely stressful morning. My hair required multiple adjustments throughout the day, given that it continually fell in my face or out of the bobby pins. The curly hairstyles that my bridesmaids chose fell out before the end of pictures, and all members of the bridal party had exposed bobby pins in our pictures.nnI was charged full price for the hair and makeup services for myself and the bridal party at the end of that session, despite no hair stylists ever arriving. At the time, I didn’t want to haggle over payment (it was my wedding day, we were already late for photographs, and things were already very stressful), so I paid the full price and left it as a sunk cost. The rest of the wedding day was fantastic, but this was an unfortunate and inauspicious beginning to it.nnI wanted to write this review to ensure that this does not happen to another bride or bridal party. Wedding days are stressful enough as it is and worrying about the timeliness of vendors can only make the day more chaotic. Obviously, I would not recommend booking with Powder Studio.

Staff was friendly and professional. Jaclyn went above and beyond to make sure my hair was perfect! I am so happy with it.
