Baymont by Wyndham Des Moines North

The bed was comfy. First visit, our toilet was leaking water, no one ever came to fix it before we checked out hours later. I asked the manager to call me which they never did. Second visit (previously booked and non-refundable) There was something pink on the shower wall and stains on the sheets. Laundry facility was through the sticky fitness center but the light wouldn't turn on so I decided not to risk losing my money in the machine.

Where to start... it's not nearly as nice as their pictures make it look. Yes there are some areas that have been updated and the person who checked us in was nice. That being said, our bathroom was not cleaned very well. There was hair on the shower wall. The bathroom door sticks and is loud. The shower bar is almost broken off and leans down so the shower curtain won't stay closed. The indoor pool is gross. Stains of something on the floor. The rubber floor topper is wearing off, exposing tile. There were ceilings tiles missing exposing insulation. And it was REALLY HOT in there! The dehumidifier was blowing out HOT air and, mixed with the heat from the hot tub it was too hot to stay in there more than a few minutes! The outdoor pool was pretty sketchy too, surrounded by some black mesh for a fence. Not being from the area, I didn't realize it was in the middle of an industrial area, so we did not feel very comfortable in the area. Not to mention we really had to search for places to eat.

Got in late, desk attendant was helpful, rooms were clean and the beds were so comfortable! Worth every penny.

I would not recommend this hotel. We stayed here last weekend. The area isn’t that great, when we first arrived there was a homeless man walking alongside the hotel. We didn’t feel comfortable leaving things in our car.nnThe lobby looks nice and inviting but the hallways leading to the rooms are very run down and the rooms are underwhelming. The light on the nightstand in the room is hardly bright enough and the other light was flickering. The beds are hard as a rock. The bathroom was very dirty looking, shower tiles were dirty.nnWe had walked down to the front desk to ask for towels and another bag for our clothing from the day, there was no one at the desk so we called from the phone as instructed by the sign, the phone rang and eventually went to voicemail, I tried calling twice. We walked back to our room and called from the room. A lady answered and said she would bring them to our room, an hour and a half still didn’t have the things we had asked for. We walked back to the front desk and apparently shift change happened as there was a new person at the desk. He quickly brought the things to our room and apologized for the lady who did not bring the things or pass along the message.nnThere was no breakfast offered due to covid, but we were also not offered any type of options to even take back to our room or anything.nThe ice machine was marked as “out of order” even though it was working fine.nnAvoid this place, there are other options that I’m positive are better than this.

Hotel is rundown, needs serious updating. Advertises a hot breakfast, no such thing. My travel companions enjoy a hearty breakfast as do I, very disappointing. Won't return.
