This park is located on the site of an old landfill and dumping grounds for the munitions plant and John Deere. Unfortunately it was decided to cap the landfill instead of haul away the contents which is the reason for the unsightly hill on the eastern side of the park. Although it was praised as a spot for sledders in the winter I have never once seen someone sledding here nor do I expect to. Because of the cap nothing but grass can be grown on the hill so it leaves a lot to be desired.nnGiven the large size of the park and other capital projects within Prairie Trail the city has been slow to develop the park. A new pond was installed at the time the adjacent plat was developed which was a nice addition, but largely for those that people owning houses or lots that back up to the lake. If and when this park gets developed I will consider updating this review, but for the time being this barely qualifies as a park.
