I am an aviation student at UND and I often rent out N2087E. It is a really nice plane for it's age. The engine runs extremely smooth. The mechanic who does the annual/100 hour also works at UND's maintenance facility. UND is well known for it's quality maintenance. The aircraft is very well maintained and the small problems I have had with it have been taken care of.nnThe grass strip the hanger is situated on is extremely well maintained. It is practically all flat. Flying out of a grass strip like that is a ton of fun.nnThe whole operation has a clear priority on safety. I once took out N2087E on a windy day. Sense the trees create a bunch of mechanical turbulence, I felt uncomfortable landing at the grass strip. They have no problem with you landing in Grand Forks. Danny, the lead CFI, picked up the plane and had a friend drive me back to Manville where my car was. They just want you to stay safe as getting into Manville can be harry at times.nnOverall, this is a class operation and I highly suggest anyone interested in learning how to fly or renting a Cessna to do it here.

I rented the Cessna 172 (N2087E) from Valley Aircraft Services (VAS) back in October of 2015, and all I can say is that it was a wonderful experience. They have great people, well maintained aircraft, and a fun airport to fly in and out of.nnDan is a blast to work with, he has outgoing personality, and will go the extra mile to make sure that you are taken care, as well as continuously making improvements to his product for the benefit of his customers.nnKreg, the Certified Flight Instructor, is easy-going, knowledgeable, and made the checkout flight a painless experience.nnThe aircraft, a late 1970's Cessna 172, is well maintained, clean, reliable, and IFR-certified. I rented it over a weekend, putting on 7 hours, which went without a hitch. Most of the flying was VFR, but I did shoot one instrument approach. The approach was tricky as the ADF was inoperative and there wasn't a DME installed, so I was limited to a VOR approach, which was made easier by the Stratus 2 that Dan lends his customers to use as a back up.nnSince that flight, however, Dan has made a huge improvement to the plane by installing a Garmin 650 GPS, improving the marketability and usability of the plane, especially in poorer weather conditions. The fact that he did this from my suggestion, guarantees that I will continue to use the company to rent aircraft. I also plan to receive my high performance endorsement from the Piper Cherokee 6 that they recently acquired.nnI strongly recommend VAS for anyone looking to fly in the Red River Valley, as well as UND students looking to rent a plane. The price is reasonable, and the service is fantastic.
