The Iowa City post office has experienced staff (many unseen inside) who work very hard. Those at the front desk seem patient with customers. The 24/7 lobby area has free Priority boxes/ envelopes and a self-serve automated scale for packages; rented post boxes are on the west side. Some cards (such as Hold Mail) are only available when staff are present. Passport applications are taken by appointment only. During the pandemic, a sign is posted to wear masks and cones are set out for a social distancing queue. The USPS building is at the back of the shopping center with a large parking area and two drive-thru mailboxes.

Horrible customer service. Misplaced my package for 17 days, then the clerk I talked with twice was very snarky and rude.

The USPS online change of address form is useless. It verifies your address against your credit card address on file. There are two major problems with that.nn1: When I input my new address in their form, the form auto-corrected it to the appropriate style, complete with a 9 digit zip code that I didn't know. Well, since I didn't know that zip code, I didn't provide it to the credit-card issuer when I changed my address with them.n2: Since my move was recent, I haven't actually seen the formatting of the credit card address that the credit-card issuing bank used when I phoned them with the address change.nSo I was unable to verify and I was unable to complete the change of address form online.
