Our company had been using Dawson Insurance for several years to insure our business property and operations. in the last 3 years we have had 2 major insurance claims, here is my experience with Dawson (now Marsh & McLennan Agency):nn1)tMay 2018 we had a overnight office fire that caused, in the end, around $750,000 in damages. Jay Kleingartner was our agent and promptly came to the site to get us going on our claim, it was a 10 month process of wrestling with our insurance company and occasionally pleading with Jay to assist us in getting progress. When all was said and done the only reason we got the claim closed out was when Jay directed us to use the state to advocate for fair treatment from our insurance company.nnMy grade for Jay in this claim is a C-. He was difficult to contact, and regularly would take multiple days to respond to calls and other correspondence. On the back end its always seemed like there was more he could do to help, and just wouldn’t do what was expected. He also started out on a bad foot when he told us our deductible was $25,000, we found out in the coming days that it was actually only $10,000 after reading the policy ourselves.nn2)tMarch 2019 we had snow accumulation on our cold storage warehouse causing a collapse and total loss. This building has had a valuation of around $1,200,000 but the claim is not even remotely settled (15 months after event at the time of this review). During this claim I had to plead and plead with Jay to get resolution. Communication was terrible. We had to point out that Marsh & McClennans tag line is something to the effect of “…there when you need us the most…” and point out the irony that they were no help to us in this claim. Tom Dawson met with me personally on multiple occasions and had many conversations over the phone, none of what Tom reassured would happen in us being taken care of, happened. He gave us false hope, and he accomplished nothing for us, literally nothing. Jay seemed disinterested in helping us from the start, I guess 2 catastrophic claims in 10 months is enough for an agent to realize they’re not going to have you as a customer much longer. Supposedly there was a team of people involved on the back end of this claim but nothing ever came of it. We were left to fend for ourselves, hiring a lawyer to do the job I had paid Dawson tens of thousands of dollars to do for me in representation.nnMy grade for Jay Kleingartner and Tom Dawson in this claim is an F. False information, false information on our reimbursement entitlement in the claim, terrible communication, slow communication, lack of service, etc. etc. etc. Again, we are 15 months removed and still have no idea what our compensation will be in the claim. We have since moved on from Dawson/Marsh & Mclennan, gladly.nnAfter having been through 2 major insurance events I have had many opportunities to give guidance and recommendation to friends, family, and peers relating to agent representation. Dawson/Marsh & Mclennan will NEVER receive a recommendation, rather a harsh warning- Do not trust these people with “caring for you when you need it most”

Agency is owned by some New York company. They brag being local but, they're not!
