National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium

In the Smithsonian system this museum is top quality. A real steamer dredge is available to walk through. Lots of Mississippi fish in large aquariums. There are many excellent historical displays highlighting the indigenous people of the area and their ways of life. There is also an area with rotating Smithsonian system exhibits that rotate in and out. They also have outdoor areas with native wildlife such as otters and turtles. There is something here for everyone. Good stuff.

The people that worked there were friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. They also had a lot of Historical facts about settlements and the tribes of the area. It is a neat place to go visit and hangout for a couple of hours. I recommend petting the stingrays. They are really neat.

Great place for all ages. Very clean, and fun exhibits to check out and interact with. Really interesting to our 4 and 2 year old.

The kids had a great time here. It's much larger than it looks like. You can easily spend several hours here looking at all the exhibits and trying out the different activities.nnI like the outdoor area the best. The kids liked the interactive areas best, especially the large exhibit showing different ways to alter water flow.

THANK YOU FOR BEING OPEN! We came for your Halloween event and we drove pretty far because there is no where else to take the kids. Everything is virtual now and it stinks. This makes me want to explore Iowa more.
