Taco House

I don’t typically do reviews, but here we go. I usually love taco house, their food, and the wait isn’t long(20 mins tops) because we always call first. I ordered a bean/rice/red sauce nacho, specifically saying “ONLY bean/rice/red sauce please!” I have lactose intolerance so I don’t order cheese. I then said at the end, “to clarify, I want ONLY beans/rice/red sauce on those nachos”. It was clarified, she repeated it back exactly how I said. I’ve made this order many times before. Then we go to pick it up. We always check the food before driving off; found cheese on the nachos. I can’t eat cheese. It wouldn’t be a problem otherwise. Went back to the window and we got full attitude. “We don’t re make food, THIS is why we repeat it back to you” “we don’t do this, but we will make it this one time, never again, order correctly next time and listen when we repeat it”, showing us the receipt and making it our fault. I don’t eat cheese. I don’t order cheese. This was at 11am, so they were not busy..3 cars in the lot. I repeated my order TWICE, once at beginning of the call & again at the end. For a small town restaurant, I would expect kind customer service & to hear an apology for the phone order being taken down wrongly, as any other restaurant would do. I can understand not re making food if someone DID order something then changed it upon arrival. This was not our case. Just completely thrown off & disappointed. I’ve worked in food industry in Okoboji area & this is not how we treat people here. We respect them, apologize & acknowledge the mistake & move on.

Taco House is a great lakes treasure. Unlike most mexican food restaurants, the food is high quality but the atmosphere is so relaxed. It is a must whenever we are at the lake!

This restaurant has been a favorite of my family for many years. The dining room is not fancy, you order up the window and take a number but I love the food. I recommend the soft shell tacos and the nachos with beef. there will probably be a line but it's worth the wait.

I like the prices, and I like the food even more! I’m told it’s an Okoboji tradition that one MUST eat here at least once on a trip to the lakes. I don’t disagree. Worth the wait for some pretty good tacos.

Soft shell beef tacos are delicious and the price is great! Also taking covid serious for both employees and customers. A+
