Not good. I have a bit to criticize here but the meat(pulled pork) was spot-on and the BBQ sauce was great. The spicy BBQ they also offered is great as well. The sides were what let me down. My suggestion: buy the meat by the pound to-go and get or make sides elsewhere

Big Al’s is consistently an enjoyable place to go to get an outstanding meal with friends or family! The owner (Big Al himself) will also walk around the restaurant from time to time and check on his customers to make sure they are enjoying their meal! You definitely get quite the helping of food, so be sure to come with an appetite!! Their new breakfast specials are great as well! I got the porkchop with sunny side up eggs and biscuits and gravy....talk about yummy! Would certainly recommend to anyone visiting the Des Moines area! ud83dudc4d

The customer service was terrible and how it was handled was very disappointing! I placed a telephone order in the morning for pick up in the evening (gave my credit card number) but they did not have my order. I was accused by the manager and owner of calling the wrong location. I specifically called the Adel location. We had to wait for the food for almost an hour while everything was sorted. Multiple phone calls back and forth while my friends waited to pick up the order. I felt like they thought I was lying about placing the order. I actually sent proof of my call to the owner before I felt like they believed me. The food was good but the customer service needs a lot of work.

Mouthfuls of meat mixed with chunks of fat in the chopped brisket sandwich. No egg in the deviled egg potato salad. Beans are way too hot. Bottom bun of the sandwich is soaked in grease. Fries were good, but that was it.

You'll find amazing food at this establishment but if it's even possible, the owners are even better. They are the most generous, loving, family/community oriented people I've met in years.
