I was referred to Dr. Hoadley Harris by another doctor. I called and made a new patient appointment and asked the fees for an uninsured patient. I was quoted $150. Arrived at my appt was ignored for 20 minutes when I asked if someone was going to assist me. I was told I was not seen there sitting directly in front of the window by two ladies sitting behind it just 10 feet away. When I arrived one was on the phone the other was not and neither acknowledged my presence.nnThe two front office females that were at the window that clearly couldn't be bothered with the patients. I again informed them I was a new patient and didn't have insurance and they asked for $150.00 which I paid. Saw Dr. Harris with a plan for labs to be done a little over 3 weeks later. I arrived at my appointment 3 weeks later and again, I felt like I was a bother. I told them why I was there and they asked for $150 again. This was a follow-up lab test with no need to see the Dr. so I asked them why. Someone else was pulled up (probably an office manager) who had the same demeanor as the other ladies in the front and they proceeded to inform me that not only does this visit cost $150 but I owe $200 from the first visit. WHAT? How does an office during these times start gouging a patients wallet that has no insurance. If I had insurance, it would have cost me $35 copay and the insurance would have paid them $80 (I've got paperwork proving this). I would have not been charged a follow-up visit for the same issue. The reason they gave me was that's how they charge new patients without insurance. They make them pay $150 up front and then charge then $200 when they walk out the door and send them a bill (which I conveniently received that very same day in the mail) then apparently charge you out the 'you know what' once they realize you're paying cash. I wasn't about to pay $350 more for a simple lab test and will not be returning and I recommend you seek out providers who are a bit more caring about not only the patient, but the patients situation. I don't expect free services but I do expect reasonable costs. My chiro prefers me to pay cash instead of going through insurance and I know why. They get more than insurance gives this way and it's less than my copay would have been and the paperwork is minimal saving them time and resources. I'm out $150 and have to start over again with a new doctor and still have the issue I went for the first time. Thanks Plains Medical. Stand up job!
I had to call over to Plains Medical regarding some faxes we had sent (in relation to a mutual patient). The staff member whom answered the phone seemed unprofessional and dismissive to the request. It may have been she was busy or what ever. The person answering the phone to a business is portraying that business in a positive OR negative light.
Offers a variety of services in town. Professional, caring staff. Great place!
I was referred to doctor Harris by a co-worker. At our first appointment he asked me questions for 30min and did the most thorough exam I had had in years. Sure beats the assembly line at Sandford where you get 5-10 min and you are pushed out the door. Best primary care doc I have ever had.
Hoadley Harris is a little too knife happy in my opinion. I was referred to him by my chiro because I’ve been dealing with back pain that has me out of work. I’m self employed and have no insurance because it is too expensive, after a 5 min visit he looks at me for a second and says I need insurance and he thinks 1 or 2 disks need to come out of my back. He wants me to get an MRI and go from there. He wasn’t very gentle about the issue, he made me nervous quite frankly. I’m only 25 and I think he would’ve cut me open on the table first visit if I let him. Granted, I have had this back issue for 9-10 years and I informed him of that, but he immediately resorts to cutting chunks of my spine out? Isn’t there options short of that?
