The absolute worst. The agents provide zero representation for their customers and ONLY resort to doing their jobs when an issue is brought to their attention BY the customer. They have failed to provide information to our insurance company at every single renewal, resulting in the receipt of cancellation letters nearly every year, usually with our homeowners/umbrella policy, and now with our auto insurance policy as well. They do not initiate communication with the customer when there is an issue or information that should be conveyed for the renewal, and drop the ball when renewing policies that should be easy and seamless. All of the above result in the previously mentioned cancellation letters received. We are left in utter frustration and time wasted trying to correct/reinstate policies that never should have been cancelled to begin with if our agents simply did their jobs, communicated with clients, and were conscientious. They just do not care. The best descriptive I can use for this agency is apathetic. DO NOT use Smith (Brown & Brown) if you are seeking an agent who will provide adequate, competent insurance brokerage services and proactive support. You'd be better off to broker your own policies and would likely do a better job. We're finally moving on. I can see from other reviews that we are not alone.

My agent, Jennie, just hung up on me after only a 3 minute conversation as I attempted to cancel my insurance. She told me she would let it go into non-payment and then I creditors would come after me. All because I did not want to advise her who my new insurance company was. when I asked her to explain why she needed that information, she became hostile and HUGN UP ON ME! Run as fast as you can from this company. It was great before Brown and Brown took it over. I’m going to complain to the state of Ct. I would give a zero like the poster before me if I could. Even when I had my first interaction with Jennie, she had a huge attitude and she was renewing my policy. Unbelievable.

When Smith Insurance was not owned by Brown and Brown - They were 5 star! LOVED THEM! Recommended them to all!nnSince the buyout by Brown and Brown? Less than 1 star but that is not an option.nThey fired close to everyone with the buy out. I wasn't aware for SIX MONTHS that my agent was no longer with the company. I kept e-mailing and calling the receptionist. I kept getting shoved off or sent to general voicemail, or simply no response at all.nnIt took me 3 months to get a return phone call OR e-mail response to make a change to my policy. February-April 2017nnIt took me 4 requests by e-mail, and 3 phone calls and 3 weeks (June-July 2017) to get a copy of my loss runs for my company's policy.nTook over a month of more than 6 phone call requests for them to send a Certificate of Insurance. December 2017nnI requested a change to my policy in November 2017, and spoke with the agent - she never processed it. Therefore higher insurance payment necessary.nnThis company only cares about the money they make NOT the customers. That is not a way to do business.

Had an awesome experience with an agent named Dee. She was extremely professional and knowledgeable! She helped me out so much with insurance for my photography business. I will definitely be recommending her to all of my other business owner friends! Thank you Dee!!
