I would love to enter a time warp and go back before era of Covid-19 to spend a few quiet hours here at this gorgeous library without either of my small children. Just a quiet visit alone with my thoughts and many childhood books from the youth section upstairs. Pause at the stair landing to gaze up at a panoramic window full of paper snowflakes.
Great library. Books, newspapers, ,computers, movie rentals. The usual.
I've lived in many great cities stateside and abroad, enjoyed their renowned libraries. Yet, our Southbury Library tops them all!nNot only because of its wonderfully-filled shelves of books and media, its comfy and lovely decor ~ it's it staff of dedicated, warm and professional people who make our library second-to-none.
There different guest speakers and workshops every month. Great spot for all ages.
The Southbury Public Library, built in 2006, is a fantastic facility, a gem, a real quality of life added value, something local citizens can really be proud of and enjoy. It is also very large for the town of 19,000 in a great, formal architectural style.nnIt is very spacious, with various sections, cathedral ceiling reading room with real (gas) fireplace, conference rooms, teen section, movie screening theater, ongoing visual arts exhibits, etc. etc.nnIf you are deciding to move to Southbury, ask real estate agent to give you library tour or visit it by yourself. You will be even more ready to sign that house purchase agreement:)
