The museum is open by appointment only due to COVID. We were not aware of this and showed up unannounced. We called the phone number listed on the door and the manager, who happened to be there, allowed us to do a self- guided tour. Fascinating place! The mining portion was a big wow and the history portion was very interesting, too. Definitely it's a specialty museum for those with that bent but we both enjoyed the visit and the hospitality immensely.
Love learning the history of a place. Enjoyed seeing some of the more influential people who came from this area.

A wonderful place to experience what it was like at the time of the coal mine days great interaction with some things I think everybody should visit this place at least once and find out some history about our town and surrounding towns.
We found out about this place while planning a trip to Lake Rathbun. The time spent was most informative and enjoyable. Coal mining has been a long time fascination and the artifacts and video were worth the time.
