Stunning antique home graciously turned into one of the most beautiful libraries in the state! A joy to have in my hometown! Librarians are helpful and friendly.

Sunday Circulation Desk Staff is Fabulous. I recently had several college projects that required a large volume of material over an extended period of time. The two women who work the Circulation desk have always been terrific helping with this material. They have always done a wonderful job processing and returning the material I drop off at the Booth Library.

Historic building with exhibits of recreated rooms and period artifacts from Newtown’s past. Very friendly & helpful staff. Pleasant outdoor patio to take your lunch & book on a nice day; especially lovely to enjoy in the spring with its “...host of golden daffodils”—then you can go inside and check out a volume of Wordsworth’s poetry! A wide variety of programs available for all ages, and constantly changing exhibits in the community room by local artists & groups.

The Booth Library of Newtown is one of the most delightful libraries I have ever seen (and I have seen a lot of them). While not the biggest, it is nevertheless a beautiful building, designed to look like an old residence so it fits in with the other homes on Main street, and filled with the antiques & collectables of the benefactress who donated the funds to build the library.nnThe Booth library is filled with comfy old leather armchairs fitted in nooks and gentleman's-study type rooms. One floor is dedicated to children, but also has a huge lecture hall. The main floor is filled with fiction, periodicals, an activity & clubs room, a young adult section and an extensive selection of DVDs. The second floor is dedicated to non-fiction, poetry, art, reference, genealogy, foreign languages... and a huge display of local artists works.nnThe Booth's website is also connected to the Fairfield County library's network, so if the Booth doesn't have what you are looking for, chances are you can have it transferred to in from another library in the network. Also, if you are a card-holder from another library in Fairfield County, you can get your account linked with the Booth, so you can borrow books from both places, AND return a borrowed item from one library at the other. The library's website also allows you to renew borrowed items 2 extra times without you having to stopping by the building.
