Children & Families Department

Under the circumstances that people have to go here, as an outsider just going to help out a friend that needed help I find this to be an amazing establishment! All workers are amazing and truly very caring to parents & children!

I’m single father, attending college, and full time worker. I have being involved with this department not because I wanted, but because I have two children which their primarily residence is with me and a planned parenting set by court where they live with me and the mother gets them every other Saturday from 8am - 6:30pm ( for almost 2yrs.). DCF was first involved when the mother left my children in the car, went into the condo where she used to live and most likely for a long period of time. Police was involved and reported to DCF. Second time the neighbor where the mother used to live called DCF and made a report because they were scared to see the children always outside by the road (heavy traffic) and the mother was nowhere near by to be found. Now for the third time I was the one reporting an incident where my little daughter now tells me her sibling has being touching her private parts. DCF case worker stops by my house check everything out and asked my concerns I tell her all my concerns with the children being unsupervised and the past history. She says she is going to make sure they are safe, background check on everyone the house where the mother is now living , also since past history she would check if the mother complied with all their orders, and will make sure that where she is living now it is her actual house(rents). After these 2 weeks later case worker from DCF couldn’t get ahold of the kid’s mother she said she called, but couldn’t get ahold of her. I than told her I would send the kid’s mother a text to have her contact DCF (Remind you that in the mean time DCF suspended visitation). DCF worker calls me days later and leaves me a message saying she went to the house and all is good and that the mother could have her visitation. I didn’t let the visit happen that weekend as suppose too. I explained to the officer at the police department (which is where I chose the drop off and pick up of my children to be) the entire situation and the visit didn’t happen. I contacted the DCF case worker after not letting my children go with their mother. I had questions for her to make sure she complied with what she had told me she was going to do which was checking with landlord if that is the mother’s house, background check of people in the house, and safe environment. Her answer to me was safe environment and the gentlemen that lives there seems nice. I than asked if she would be 100% liable for my kids safety and that if anything happens to she would be the one I could blame For because she was guaranteeing me that she did her job. I got no answer from the case worker other than she said that she was going to check and make sure of what could be done because she has to speak to her supervisor. Two day later she calls and says she wanted to schedule a meeting with me, the mother, and her supervisor. At the meeting after I questioned “ what is DCF waiting for the act on my children’s behalf and make this a supervised visit or no visit?” The answer from the supervisor was “if that comes to the case I would have to pay for supervised visit and if I was going to be able to afford it”. I than told the supervisor it’s ridiculous to know that they are just sitting around waiting for something to happen to my children before they can do anything. I stood up and got out of the meeting letting them know anything happens to my children I will blame and sue DCF. Again for the third time involved with DCF of Danbury and getting the same thing back “a department that just don’t care when they should care”. All no answered questions or any investigation that wasn’t made only shows me that the DCF of Danbury only care to collect government money to do nothing. I hope this review gets to the hand of authorities that will investigate this department.
