Was looking for something different to do during COVID times, and since I always had an interest in Lewis and Clark decided to do a 7 day canoe trip along the Missouri. Haley and Steve were great and made it a fun trip. Everything was well executed, food was excellent and the scenery was beautiful. Even though we had one day of rainy weather, the whole group managed through it and the remainder of the days were great. The stars at night were spectacular, with no civilization for hundreds of miles we saw the milky way every night. The nice part about a September trip is the river was empty, we barely saw any other groups on the river.

Haley and her crew are outstanding. Simply the best guided trip I have ever been on. Where to begin? The pre-trip communication was excellent, the night before prep session was very in-depth, the day of launch (which could have been a chaotic mess) went quickly and smoothly, the food during the trip was delicious and plentiful, their river skills/history/local environment knowledge were all excellent, and so on. No complaints at all. My wife and I would HIGHLY recommend Upper Missouri River Guides.

I am a member of a group that has done 43 canoe trips. (this was my 31st trip with the group) Most of our trips have been to the Boundary Water Canoe Area in northern Minnesota. This year, we decided to take our annual trip to the Missouri Breaks in Montana. A trip that had been on all of our bucket lists.nnWe chose the Upper Missouri River Canoe Guides to guide us on our trip. I don’t want to speak for my fellow canoe partners but I couldn’t be more satisfied with our choice. Brett and Megan did an outstanding job. Their knowledge of the area (both current events and the history was very extensive); the food (an unbelievable, varied menu all prepared from fresh ingredients many that Brett had harvested from his garden or from hunting – they were truly Master Chefs); the assistance in getting in and out of the canoe and navigating the river was a really appreciated touch; and the camaraderie (they fit in with our group, sharing stories and experience – they became friends).nnThis is only the second time I have ever given a 5 star review and I am happy to do so for the Upper Missouri River Canoe Guides crew and service. Just an outstanding experience THAT THEY MADE BETTER!

We did the 6 day trip. From start to Finish the trip was wonderful. The guides, Haley and Steve were outstanding in every aspect. The canoe packing, the organization, the side hikes, the camp sites as well as their wonderful personalities and positive attitude were top notch. The food that they prepared was delicious and plentiful. We ate 3 great meals a day as well as appetizers at night. We went mid June so the river was flowing fast so it was more about steering than paddling. One night we camped at a site and watched 16 Big Horn Ewes and kids climbing up and down the cliffs to the river to drink. The weather: well it rained pretty much everyday and we got soaked, but they prepared us for what to bring so we were not cold. It cleared up at dinner time and so we dried out around the fire as needed. The last day, in the late afternoon after we set up our tents, a major storm came through and lasted about an hour. During that time, Steve and Haley were out in the storm adding extra tie downs to our tents and checked on us multiple times to make sure we were OK. Just above and beyond. I am so glad we did the 6 day trip as you really get into the flow and feel of the landscape, the river and your trip mates after 2-3 days, and we all thought we would really have missed out if we only did the 3 day trip.

Outstanding and unforgettable experience. Everyone we met, from Haley who helped organize the trip, to the shuttle drivers and guides were the kindest and most welcoming people I could have hoped to meet. I especially want to acknowledge how great a job Steve and Jackson did as our guides. Their patience, kindness, expertise, and impeccable professionalism made the trip truly unforgettable.nnHighly recommend the White Cliffs portion of the trip (which is what we did) but we'll be back for the badlands section next year!
