Orwigsburg Free Public Library

First of all, free parking lot which is very important for a library, second of all the building is gorgeous! It is very modern yet comfortable, clean & bright with stunning furnishings & fixtures. The staff are very sweet and helpful! I am so happy to have found a place to work and relax! Libraries are incredible; this one is proof.

I recently moved to the area and wanted to get my library card. I forgot my license, which was fine, they said I could bring it another day, however, I did not feel welcomed. And I thought they were very rude because I forgot my license. I also had my 17 month old son with me who was in the care of my husband as I filled out the slip for my library card. My husband put him down and he briefly ran, my husband got him right away. They promptly told me about their no running policy, which I understand, and I tell my toddler not to run, however any parent of a toddler knows how difficult it can be to explain to a toddler that there is no running in the library, especially because toddlers are beginning to understand social rules and language. I would think with their degrees they would know this.nnAlso,I do not think they have the best children’s program. They say toddlers are welcome but they can’t run. I wouldn’t allow him to run, but developmentally that is where a toddler is and they do not understand that. I expected a lot more from all of the great reviews. I was unimpressed and will not return. I have found the Pottsville library to be more understanding of the development of toddlers. They are very welcoming and understanding to toddler needs.nnI wish I knew the name of the librarian that talked down to me and made me feel so unwelcomed. It’s hard enough moving to a new town and not knowing anyone. I’m sorry I was busy with my toddler and forgot my license. It is unacceptable to be so rude to someone new to the area.
