YOU CANNOT ACCESS THE STACKS. If you can believe it, the collection has been moved to an archive under the building and books are retrieved for you on request by some kind of robotic elevator. The rest of the building contains huge amounts of expensively climate-controlled air.nnI am a full time graduate student at temple and I use the libraries at OTHER UNIVERSITIES. I hope Temple will consider building its own library someday, maybe somewhere close to this embarrassing and purposeless ornament.

I love this library. I have been a visitor here since 2011.

Beautiful building and a great place to hang out and study!

1/5 in efficiency ud83dudc4en5/5 in looks ud83dude0ennEven though efficiency isn't optimum at Charles, looks do matter. Hence, 3/5 it receives.nnPainpoints:n1. No power outlets for charging.n2. The power banks run out every hour and don't even charge a laptop from 0% to 20% while using, which goes to show how extraordinarily powerful the power banks are.n3. The quiet study room tables have power outlets; however, most if not all don't work.n4. Library? Where are the books? There's only a floor of books on display.n5. Whoever made this library for sure forgot to ask the students what they desired.

This is not an inviting library. A granite, ugly, dark building in the middle of a campus, with lots of unusable and wasted space, not even mentioning “wasted wood”.nnI walked upstairs to navigate around. It is not possible to find the group study rooms and/or breakout rooms.nnThe university administration did not seek any student opinion before erecting this “hideous monument of mismanagement and ugliness”.nnWhen you are designing a product or service, you need to ask the need of the end user and listen to “voice of the customer”. In my logic, college students should not be considered as “customers”. In the end of the day, student is the end user, and in this library, students are clearly disregarded, as you can see from lots of negative reviews.nnI didn’t view it as a collaborative space. Tech Center’s breakout rooms are much better for collaboration and group study.nnWhen I first glanced at the building, I felt like Temple “wasted a ton of money” on “another failed project”. As I entered inside this beast, I looked around to explore around and I hated it more.nnThe letter grade I give to this design disaster is an F. It’s not even barely passing.
