Doctor Capawana was very professional. I went to him regarding my unstable ankles and was hoping he would be able to help me decrease my pain. He made sure that I had all the options, surgical, conservative, and just ones to help the pain less apparent. He went over my shoe options and asked which shoes worked best for me at work and I had brought those shoes in. With working in construction, it is not easy to take time off, so surgery was not an option. In the Army, they always stated I had weak ankles, take the rest of the day off, and take some Ibuprofen. He stated if I didn’t want to do surgery, I could look into what was good and bad about my current shoes. I did that and was able to find shoes that gave me the support for the problems I was having and have not had issues since. Thankfully, this was just what I needed. Didn’t cost me an arm or an leg, but just one consultation where all the options were giving to me and the issue was fixed. I would recommend Doctor Capawana and his staff. Not just having you spend your money to make money, but giving you the time of day to help you feet feel better.

After experiencing ongoing pain in my foot during running, I visited Dr. Capawana who immediately diagnosed me with a foot condition, which unfortunately, I now don’t trust. The X-Ray machine used in their office, the primary means to confirm such a diagnosis being an x-ray, looks like it was manufactured in the 1970’s. Dr. Capawana immediately wanted to book me for surgery, performing a life altering procedure with minimal explanation and highly generalized answers, to which I declined in favor of making attempts to alleviate the condition through the use of less invasive means. To complicate the matters, my family and I were in the process of performing an out of state move and would only be in town several more weeks. I explained this to Dr. Capawana and his staff, including Ariel, who assured me that despite not being in town that they would mail the orthotic to my out of state forwarding address, so it would be immediately available upon my arrival at the out of state destination. To ensure the condition did not become progressively worse I booked an appointment for the following week to be fitted for an orthotic by Dr. Capawana at which point they charged me $100 out of pocket and again assured me that my orthotic would be mailed to my out of state forwarding address. Fast forward several weeks, at which point I’ve arrived at my destination, only to find that the orthotic is not present. In its place I find only an invoice for an additional $350, they are saying I owe for the orthotic. Upon calling the office, and speaking with Ariel, they have no recollection of the assurances they provided to me during my two office visits. They inform me that unless I pay the $350 I will not be receiving my orthotic. I also came to find out that orthotic adjustments are frequently required upon receipt of said orthotics, but was never mentioned by Dr Capawana. How could I make adjustments if I lived in another state? The only reason I proceeded with Dr Capawana was to ensure I had the orthotics as soon as possible, to ensure my condition did not progress, despite my reservations regarding his expertise and diagnosis. I was mislead by Dr Capawana and his staff for purely monetary reasons. They knew I would not be receiving my orthotic at my end destination. They knew I would not be able to engage their services for any necessary adjustments to the orthotic, but they used me as a means to bill me and my insurance company for revenue. Upon explaining the situation to Ariel at base Capawana’s office, no resolution was offered and I have not been contacted by Dr Capawana.
