The education shared along each step of the way, and the beautiful smile they have created for my daughter makes them the best around. Appts are short, quick and easy, and the environment is welcoming and very organized.
We have had nothing but a wonderful experience. Both of our children have been patients of Dr. John. He is incredibly knowledgeable. The entire staff is friendly and compassionate. The ladies at the desk always have a kind welcome and warm smile. We travel 40 minutes because they are THE BEST!
Dr. John and Sharon Hayes are very knowledgeable and professional orthodontists. Their staff is kind and courteous. Dr. John explained everything to me, listened to my concerns, and answered all my questions. I look forward to my next appointment.
My brother and myself both had braces that were done here starting in 2008-09. The consultation was great, no complaints at that point. Then it was time for the actual equipment to be placed in our mouths. Both of us had expanders, sure it was uncomfortable and the bridge of it would press on our sinuses just right that we constantly were not able to breathe through our noses well, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as braces.nnMy brother had an easier time. I however ended up miserable for about two and a half years, getting my braces in the spring of ‘09 and off in the late summer of ‘12. A tooth had to be moved from it’s wrong spot to the right one, which meant I had to get the baby tooth in it’s spot pulled by my dentist. After the baby tooth was pulled the correct adult tooth was slowly dragged out of it’s spot, to the middle of the roof of my mouth (yes I constantly bit my tongue/cut my tongue on the sharp edge of my tooth as it was moved), then diagonally to the right spot. I suffered terrible migraines the whole time it was being moved, the act of doing so would cause sinus migraines that left me unable to do much of anything. Not their fault, but I have a problem that when they went to explain what needed done to /my/ mouth, /my/ body I was ignored and if addressed spoken to in a condescending tone, yes, I was 14 at the time when it was being discussed, but there was no effort made to explain, in words a 14 year old can follow and in a non-condescending tone, to me what would happen.nnSo the tooth has moved into the right spot, now straighten everything out. Every. Single. Appointment. I would go home with enough wire in my mouth sticking out of the bracket on my back-most molar that it would get stuck in the flesh of my cheek. Yes, the wire would be clipped some, but there was always enough that it would immediately be stuck in my cheek. My cheek was almost always an open wound, I have scar tissue in my cheek. My face would be so swollen after and the wire would be so far into my cheek; and I told them every time I had too much wire and it was ripping my cheek to open my mouth, even to eat, that I couldn’t sleep with my head to the side. Any pressure, my cat’s tail brushing against the swollen cheek, gently prodding it to remove the wire in hopes to not have it just rip through (it did anyway), drinking especially through a straw, was painful enough to make my eyes water. Classmates would ask me why I was crying, and without moving my jaw as much as possible, I’d tell them the wire from my braces was stuck in my cheek.nnNot only was my cheek scarred, but there is a blatant violation of patient privacy. As a patient you go into one large room with about seven dentist/dental work chairs in it, half walls that don’t actually keep anyone out of anyone else’s business are placed between each chair, an open asile going between the chairs, the heads of them all toward the asile. Parents and guardians can come and sit with their children as they have the work done, but can also watch other kids and teens be worked on. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t take as good care of my teeth as I should, I’ve gotten better, but at the time Dr. Hayes would very publicly in the area shame us for not taking our toothbrushes to school and brushing before appointments. Both patients and the parents of patients would witness him do so. Nearly every visit he would do this, his assisting staff backing up the shaming, leaving me in tears by the end from shame and pain.nnThere is no patient privacy. Yes, the files are private, but do you go into the dentist and look to your left or right and see another person being worked on or having a cleaning done? How about the doctor? Do you walk down the hall and watch the doctor go patient to patient? Only after an appointment where my sister came back to see how to help us attend our expanders while we’d be on a short vacation, did this violation of patient privacy become something I was aware of.nnGo somewhere else unless you want publicly shamed, a scarred mouth, and everyone in our business.
Absolutely wonderful care!
